Abstract:
In this seminar we discuss the fluid dynamics of solar updraft towers, energy towers and osmotic power stations. The main issue is to discuss simple fluid dynamic models which on one hand describe the main features of the mentioned applications and on the other allow for robust and fast numerical simulations and optimization. This is used for three different types of power plants based on renewable energy. In all cases we are able to model, simulate and optimize both in the planning and in the operational phase.
