NUIDA, Koji/ Professor

NUIDA, Koji NUIDA, Koji(Professor) researcher_infomation research and technical catalog I am "officially" a researcher in cryptography, but have also continuously been a mathematician from the (under)graduate time until the present. It is my policy that the two different viewpoints as "mathematician" and "cryptologist" enable me to do unique researches on cryptography. From my research experience, I have learned that not just specific subjects like number theory and elliptic curves but also several mathematical skills themselves, such as the sensitivity for definitions of notions and rigorousness in giving proofs, are really useful in the study of cryptography.

Focusing on mathematics, my main research interest is in combinatorial group theory, in particular the properties of Coxeter groups (with infinitely many generators, which is in some sense a "transfinite" situation). This research originates from purely mathematical interest, but on the other hand, I am also studying possible applications of combinatorial group theory to cryptography.
