FMfI2023 Report

Forum “Math-for-Industry” 2023 —MfI 2.0— (FMfI2023), organized by the Asia-Pacific Consortium for Mathematics for Industry (APCMfI), was held at Nishijin Plaza, Kyushu University, with a total of 124 participants (70 faculty members; 34 students; 20 others) including 25 participants from overseas. The meeting was organized as a satellite meeting of the 10th International Conference on Industrial Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM2023), which was held in Tokyo the week before.

This conference is the fifteenth edition, where various lectures on a wide range of fields related to Mathematics for Industry.

This year, leading international researchers from the International Council on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM), the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI), and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), the ICIAM’s Lagrange Prize winners, as well as renowned researchers in applied mathematics from Japan have been invited to give 28 lectures on cutting-edge research results. The topics included data analysis, statistics, optimization, geometry, mathematical modeling, and mathematical logic, varying from personal research to large scale projects. After each talk, there was a lively Q&A session that often shortened the break time.

In the poster session, 19 poster presentations were given. The poster awards were organized to recognize excellent presentations by students, and the Best Poster Award was given to IMADA, Rinki (D1, The University of Tokyo), and the Excellent Poster Award to SASAKI, Hiroki (M2, Kyushu University), respectively.
