The IMI Colloquium in November
Title : Mathematician, tactical in economic society − Scientia est potentia −
Speaker :Mr. Masao YASUI (Executive Officer, Mamezou Co.,Ltd.)
Place : IMI Auditorium (W1-D-413) (4F, West Zone 1, Kyushu University)
and live-streaming by Zoom

In this talk, the speaker explained that various matters are quantified and how mathematics is needed because of social changes caused by the fluidization of market structure ant the expansion of information distribution. As specific examples to elucidate the causes and predict the future in market, data analysis and mathematical methods used in the past were introduced. The reason for the success of these applications is that mathematics has a high level of “ability to abstract” which makes it possible to simplify and unravel ideas. While companies have a certain education system for training several engineers, the traditional education system is necessary to train “ability to abstract”, and doctoral graduates in Mathematics is required in society.

Attendance: Staff 10, Students 29
