The IMI Colloquium in February was held on February 19, 2014.

The IMI Colloquium in February
Control System Design Approach Based on Simultaneous Pertubation Stochastic Approximation
Speaker:Shinichi ISHIZUKA (Cybernet Systems Co., Ltd.)
Place:Lecture Room L-1 (3F, IMI, Kyushu University)

The speaker is an expert on control theory. He talked control theory using a few examples of practical problems to which control theory is applied, including a car suspension control system, a control system for the speed of rotation of a steam engine, and inverted pendulums. In addition, an outline of the history of control theory is also described. Furthermore, he showed a study with SPSA (Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Approximation), which is a stochastic approximation method for optimizing systems with unknown parameters. We saw how control theory is attractive and useful in his presentation.

Attendance: about 20
