At this colloquium, the speaker gave a lecture entitled “Weaving Mathematics and AI into Social Solutions: Insights into Value Creation and AI’s Transformative Power”. The lecture began with an overview of the history of approaches to industrial and social challenges using mathematical modeling, optimization techniques, and AI, followed by an introduction to several specific case studies. Examples included the detection of diseases and injuries, congestion prediction, and matching algorithms for selecting optimal relocation sites and daycare centers. Additionally, the recent topic of generative AI solving entrance examination questions was also mentioned. In this era often referred to as “The Fourth Wave”, this lecture was very meaningful for people from a wide range of fields. The Q&A session was lively, and discussions continued even after the colloquium concluded, clearly indicating that many participants were deeply interested in the content.
