On April 16th, Prof. Wil Schilders (TU Eindhoven / TU Munich), President of ICIAM (International Congress of Industrial and Applied Mathematics), visited IMI and joined a lunch meeting with Professor Jun Tanimoto, Executive Vice President of Kyushu University, and IMI professors.

In the meeting, a wide range of topics and opinions were exchanged on
・the role and involvement of mathematics in advanced and important technologies such as AI and policies of various countries
・the relationship among mathematics, various scientific fields and industries, and
・the diversity in mathematics.

Prof. Schilders will join the following joint research workshop held on April 17th and 18th in IMI, and give a talk.
