Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Hub
This research hub was established in October 2025 as a joint initiative between Kyushu University and Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd. Its mission is to fundamentally resolve human-dependent uncertainties in manufacturing engineering chains and supply chains. To achieve this, the hub promotes interdisciplinary research across all academic fields by leveraging IMI’s experience in seeds discovery and industry–academia matching, together with advanced mathematical methods and information technologies—including big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and optimization—from both short-term and mid- to long-term perspectives. In particular, in collaboration with Kyushu OIP Co., Ltd., we have developed and implemented an original framework called the “Small-Start & Step-Up Model,” which enables a highly efficient process of “seeds discovery → matching → collaborative research.” This mechanism accelerates research activities through seamless collaboration among diverse academic disciplines, fostering rapid and impactful innovation.
