The IMI Colloquium in November was held on November 14, 2019. | The IMI Colloquium in November | | Title : **Mathematical model analysis of “regime shift" in alpine vegetation caused by global warming** = Based on cooperation with field measurements and experiments = | Speaker :Prof. Tetsuo YABUKI (General Education Department, Faculty of Economics, Hokusei Gakuen University) | | Place : IMI Auditorium (W1-D-413) (4F, West Zone 1, Kyushu University) | | In this seminar, Prof. Yabuki has talked about measured data describing change of ecological systems and the mathematical model expressing them as the first topic. These studies provide the understanding of “Regime Shifts” in ecological systems from the mathematical viewpoint (related to hysteresis structures), and also provide the guideline of environment constructions for avoiding such shifts under unknown environments. As the next topic, he has also introduced results about the criterion for determining hysteresis structure in the mathematical model under various possible environmental parameters and the consistency between obtained mathematical structures and real data. A series of studies will provide estimations of key parameters describing environmental fields with much uncertainty, which will contribute to save and recover ecological systems.
