My specialized field is mathematical analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations. In particular, I study the global in time solvability, large time behavior of solutions, and singular limit problems of the equations describing the large-scale fluids appeared in geophysics. Recently, I am interested in compressible rotating fluids. My recent studies have revealed that compressible rotating fluids have characteristic properties that are not found in ordinary compressible or incompressible rotating fluids due to the interaction between the gradient of density and rotation. In my future research, I would like to quantitatively describe these properties of compressible rotating fluids from the viewpoints of the global well-posedness, large time behavior, and singular limit problems.
