Title : Utilization of Mathematical Programming Solver in the Operation Scheduling of Electric Power Supply
 
Abstract :
We introduce a system where mathematical programming (MP) solver is utilized for optimizing the operation scheduling of many thermal power generators. The operation scheduling can be modeled as a large-scale MP where the objective function of fuel cost is minimized under various complicated constraints. The MP is difficult to solve in reasonable time and computational resources, which makes non-practical for the actual operation. We then develop a fast and approximation method, by solving mixed-integer quadratic programming problems iteratively using MP solver.
